Get to know…Paper Crown

Lauren Conrad Paper Crown Fall 11 lookbook

Get to know…Paper Crown

I’m so excited to be the first in Asia to launch Paper Crown, a new collection by Lauren Conrad.  Her office in LA is absolutely stunning, very girly with a sophistication that is part of who she is and is reflected in her line.  This isn’t her first rodeo, she does have another line for Kohls, but Paper Crown is all Lauren.  Yes she is a celebrity, but there is an irresistible honesty in Paper Crown.  Although I hate to admit I was a bit too old to have caught her show on MTV, I continue to be impressed by Lauren’s professionalism and her drive.

What inspired you to create Paper Crown?

I created the line because I am in love the process of design, and I wanted to have my own contemporary collection that allowed me to follow my own rules and be creative.

How would you describe your line?

Feminine, a modern take on classic style.  Understatedly elegant, effortless and lovely.

What has been the most rewarding and most challenging thing about starting your own line?

The two go hand in hand.  Although challenges arise and are to be expected, the process of designing and executing my vision into a garment is fascinating and extremely rewarding, outweighing any challenges.  I recently walked into a store selling paper crown; to see pieces that I designed in stores is the most thrilling and rewarding part of the process.

The Ryder Blazer is one of your favorite pieces for Fall, what would you wear it with?

The beauty of the Ryder blazer is that it can go anywhere!  Wear it over a party dress for a night on the town, or pair it with trousers for a day of work.  I also love wearing the Ryder with jeans for a more casual look.

What are your favorite fashion websites or blogs?

I tend to find myself checking in to WhoWhatWear on a daily basis.  I like that there aren’t necessarily rules for what to wear, but images to show how to execute the specific look – they give you so many options for just one trend.  I love it!
